Geodemocracy Lesson 2 -Process

The Geodesic Direct Democratic Network Lesson Two - Process

As homework, each person who wishes to learn this should write a glossary of the new terms and titles, with their meanings, from this Lesson. If the terms are understood, the whole system is pretty much easily understood.

A Typical Cycle from a Member's point of view

A Cycle is two weeks, 14 days, made up of a Self-Education Week and a Consideration Week.

Each Weekday, a Member is expected to put two hours of work per day into the Geonet, one hour per day for each of the member's two I-Teams. Four of the five days, this can be at anytime of day or night, and will not necessarily be online. An hour at a library looking up information about a Subject is allowed, as long as a good detailed Summary of what information was found that hour is posted online as part of the Ongoing Meeting.

This may seem excessive to many people used to normal volunteer organizations, which often requires nothing but infrequent small donations and participation at occasional leader controlled meetings. It is important to realize that a Geonet has to have more commitment of time and effort than most volunteer organizations because it aims to do more in a shorter period of time than any previous kind of organization. Also, the Geonet requires each member to put a percentage of income into a specific kind of bank account to be used for the purposes of the organization. (See Lesson Four: Finances) In other words, the individual member is investing both time and money into the future of the whole planet, from the local to the global levels.

As a form of social self-government, the Geonet Organizational Structure would be the first true democratic form of Government, and with no delegation of authority, most people would likely understand that to truly run local, to National, to International affairs, time is required of every member to do it right. By having delegates run government, assisted by professional pundits and pencil pushers, with no effort put in by those who are most affected by Government, the citizen, we have what we earn by not putting in the time required to self-govern. The world is in a mess, and sinking fast. A Geonet style government will someday be the government of choice of all the world's people, because it is the only form of organization that equalizes individual freedom and social order and would protect both.

There are no leaders in the Geonet, and this means the member is responsible for his/her own actions and choices, so each member has the responsibility to do his/her own homework, and as a team, each are responsible for sharing and learning with the other members of the Team. The Ongoing Meeting is really an online mutual education effort, where each person posts what they learn, complete with references, and thereby each educates the other members in their I-Teams on member selected Subjects. References and sources are required in Ongoing Meetings, for others to look up and gain better understanding from.

On the Friday of the preceding week, the Consideration Week before, the Subjects brought over from the last Cycle and new suggested Subjects were listed.

On the first day of the next Self-Education Week, on Monday, the 6 Responses to the External Subject sent to the other 6 adjacent I-Teams are added as possible Internal Subjects, members can suggest other Internal Subjects, keeping in mind the sum total of allowed Internal Subjects is 12, plus 6 incoming Exterior Subjects from the other, connected, I-Teams, (which at least two members of each I-Team already know the history of.) So, total, an I-Team can choose 12 new Interior Subjects, maximum, to be whittled down to 6 by the Consideration Week, the next week.

Subject Flow Table Normal Mode
Self-Education Week   Consideration Week   Output
6 Incoming Exterior Subjects Opening Meeting 6 Exterior Subjects Closing Meeting 6 Outgoing Responses
6 Incoming Responses 6 Interior Subjects 1 Outgoing Exterior Subject
1 - 12 suggested Interior Subjects   Internal Action as chosen

The Peacekeeper for that Cycle is responsible for guiding the members in terms of relevant data and application, and preventing conflict between members. Conflicting data should not be argued, but rather investigated more thoroughly, and the Peacekeeper is responsible for asking members who are not emotionally involved to do the additional research.

Note: Sometimes an adjacent I-Team will not send an External Subject out. While this should be rare, the fact that an I-Team did not send out an External Subject automatically becomes the External Subject from that I-Team and merits investigation. While this I-Team process may not bring vast solutions immediately, there is far too much trouble in the world, locally to globally to not have a Subject to pass on to other I-Teams. If a particular I-Team is consistently not putting out subjects for study by other I-Teams, then other I-Teams, after investigation, and finding a problem like personal argument and deadlock, or apathy, can request the dissolution and reformation of that I-Team with different members, the original members being reshuffled and assigned to other local I-Teams. Once a year this process of random reshuffling will occur for all I-teams.

The members study and self-educate for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the Self-Education Week on all the Subjects proposed, up to 18 Interior Subjects, as well as the 6 Exterior Subjects, which includes studying the data posted by the other members.

Then, on Thursday, the Opening Meeting occurs, a Live Meeting where all the members are online at once, like an audio and written chat meeting with visual pictures of the other members and a data whiteboard. The Opening Meeting is specifically to decide what Interior Subjects are to be carried over into the Consideration Week.

Before this meeting, the Interface selects, from member input and the amount of good data posted by members during the Ongoing Meeting, the Interior Subjects to be voted on. During this meeting, the members should initially vote for or against the 6 Interior Subjects, with discussion if voted in, for no more than 10 minutes for each Subject, what information is needed to be gathered and taken into the Consideration Week.

Note that the vote is taken at the beginning of the 10 minute Subject period, and if 6 or more members vote Aye on an Interior Subject, it is discussed and taken on into the Consideration Week. If any Interior Subject does not receive 6 Aye votes, then it is dropped, but then any member can propose one of the previous Subjects not selected by the Interface and that can be voted on. When the ten minute cutoff signal is called by the Timer, however, with or without any Subject being chosen, the meeting goes on to another Interface-selected Interior Subject vote without comment or discussion. Although all Interior Subjects can be voted down, no more than 6 Interior Subjects can be continued on into the Consideration Week. All Exterior Subjects automatica lly go into the Consideration Week.

NOTE: If the I-Team is in a higher resolution Mode, then the procedure is different in that only the Mode Subject is considered throughout the Cycle, and the Opening Meeting can be used completely for real time discussion on the Mode Subject alone. Higher priority Mode work will likely be about half the work done in any I-Team, with Normal Mode the other half.

Subject Flow Table Higher Resolution Mode
Self-Eduation Week   Consideration Week   Output
1 Incoming Exterior Mode Subject Opening Meeting 1 Exterior Subject Closing Meeting 1 Outgoing Mode Response

On Friday, the Ongoing Meeting should be sorting out, my mutual agreement, sources of further information on the Subjects to be considered the next week, including the External Subjects. That can be as few as the 6 External subjects or as many as 12 Subjects, 6 External and 6 Internal. It is expected that the number of Subjects in the Consideration Week will likely be less than 12.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the Consideration Week, the Ongoing Meeting identifies and discusses the 6 to 12 Subjects in preparation of the Closing Meeting, with possible actions proposed and discussed. Responses should be considered and drafted for the 6 External Subjects, consideration given as to what External Subject should be promoted as the I-Team's External Subject and further information researched about any of the Subjects that might be relevant to the discussion and Closing Meeting.

This is the busiest an I-Team can get in Consideration Week, with maximum Subjects and consideration. In the Closing Meeting, the Internal Subjects, External Subjects, and External Responses are voted on, with the Yay, Nay, Global, or Pass votes.
